Word “insulin” used for the first time today in 1922

According to the world diabetes day twitter feed “on this day in 1922, the word #insulin was used for the first time in public”.

I preferred the other proposed name “pancreatin”; if you could rename insulin what would you call it?

Never mind renaming let’s agree on how it is pronounced.
One for the monthly pool maybe?

Is it:
In-soo-lin
In-su-lin
In-si-lin or
In-shoo-lin?

Last week in the news threw up all of the above and more.

I say “in-su-lin” – therefore that is the correct way!

I think it should be renamed “magic la la juice”. It would certainly brighten up those dreary trips to the pharmacy.

I say In-sy-lin. With the s and y elided and the y pronounced as a schwa. (no, I’m not really studying linguistics at the moment, honest…)
My brother lives in la-la land (with fluffy pink clouds and money that grows on trees, dont you know), so I cant get on with la-la juice.
I’d go for something more descriptive – sugar killer? Glucocide fluid? Or how about Island juice, in honor of the Islets of Langerhans?

“Island juice” sounds like something that comes in a glass with umbrellas and is sold for exorbitant amounts of money to the trendies !

I say “in-sh-lin”. I tried to think of it as “Sugar Killer” but found that it made me start singing “psycho killer” (Talking Heads) but with sugar as the first word.
Maybe “hyper killer” ? but that still leads back to the same song !
