I am researcher who wants volunteers for a project

Diabetes researchers, yesterday

We often get emails from students and researchers looking for victims for their next project. On the whole, we like research so you are welcome to try and recruit victims through the soaraway Shoot Up. In fact, we have a forum thread for that very purpose which is listed below.

Before you post to the thread you’ll need to set up an account and then click to the link below to tell us about your project, remember to include:

  1. Who you are and what the project is about
  2. What your victims would need to do
  3. How people can contact you should they wish to take part.

With all that in mind, here’s the forum thread: http://www.shootuporputup.co.uk/forums/topic/researchers-looking-for-volunteers-2/

    Dear all,

My name is Kristoffer Stewart I am currently completing a masters in Science Communication and Public Engagement. As part of my dissertation I am looking at the most effective ways to communicate research.

I am looking specifically at creating ‘lay summaries’, these are easily understood brief summaries of research papers aimed at patients and carers. I was wondering if there would be any individuals who would be interested in completing a questionnaire. The questionnaire would be made to find out what the patients and carers were interested in finding out when looking at diabetes research.

I am keen to include the input of patient groups because it is work directly relevant to them and the work should reflect that.

Any assistance with this will be greatly appreciated. If you are interested in participating please contact me (kristofferstewart20@gmail.com) and I will provide further details.

    Thanks,
    Kristoffer Stewart

    Dear all,

My name is Elpida Makri and I am a MSc Health Psychology student. Me and my colleagues are conducting a research study with people living with Type 2 Diabetes. The aim is to explore their experiences of different sources of health information that they receive. Specifically, we wish to understand their views about time spent with the different health care professionals (namely GPs, nurses and pharmacists). We are speaking to people using telephone interviews so it is more convenient for them and should last no longer than one hour. We hope that by taking part, this will be useful for the participants as well as our study and that they will find our discussion interesting. Their views will also help improve the experiences of others living with diabetes.

For some reason, I cannot register and create an account, and that is why I am posting my request for participants here. If whoever sees this can help me with creating the account, I would be very grateful.

    Thank you very much,
    Elpida Makri
    MSc Health Psychology
