Currently using a Lifescan UltraSmart meter, which I rate quite highly. But my laptop has come back from being fixed and upgraded (Windows 7) and it no longer supports the software that downloads the figures. The questions I’m throwing into the ether are:

      1. Is there an upgrade to the software that I’m missing? I spent 2 hours on the Lifescan website last night and no results.

      2. I’d really prefer to have something that works on my Mac (far superior computer but that’s another topic entirely) – anybody know of a meter that will talk to a Mac?

Off to the clinic today with a handwritten summary of my results. How prehistoric . . .

The ultimate dream is for someone like Mozilla to produce open source diabetes software, with all the bells and whistles us diabetes geeks need, and the meter/pump manufacturers just providing modules to plug into it to enable uploading from their meters. Whilst we’re at it, how about world peace and total equality for women and ethnic minorities? ;)

Ooh,not Mozilla.I’ve had some very bad software problems/clashes with Mozilla stuff. But open source, certainly. And can I place an order for totally fat-free chocolate cake whilst we’re on the subject of miracles?

Thanks for all the info. Looks like a very smart bit of kit. But it doesn’t mention anywhere on their website (or am I just being thick?) what OS it’s compatible with. Anybody use this with an Apple Mac? OS 10.5.8. Otherwise I’m ready to treat myself come payday.

Hang on, just found this article and it’s really put me off. Sounds like the software support is non-existent . . .

@don172 I have Windows 7 and it works fine, so I guess Bayer have fixed any problems since the comments in the link you put.. I got my Contour USB in early June, and at first had difficulty downloading, since then, Bayer sent an e-mail with the news that the new download was ready to use (link on their website) (sent early July?)
I downloaded this and all is well, don’t use a Mac, but would hope they sorted this at the same time… Good luck – hope it works for you – I love my Contour USB and will keep going with this now… :-)

I really need to sit down and review the Bayer Contour don’t I? I’m looking pretty negligent given how often it’s been mentioned on the forums / blog comments.
