In your view are they a force for good or do they piss your hard-earned donations up the wall on esoteric research grants for obscure studies on things that will make no difference to anyone aside from a tiny cabal of academics?

I’m always a bit anti any charity that maintains offices in London and has a large permanent staff,

Also I understand anecdotally that pay is generally not too shabby at most charities.
