ECED launches Libre quiz

What would you do?

What would you do?

Shoot Up’s second favourite Scottish wonky-pancreas-supporters, the Edinburgh Centre for Endocrinology and Diabetes have launched a handy new “quiz” for Libre users.

I’ve put “quiz” in inverted commas because, of course, there’s no such thing as correct answer where diabetes is concerned. But that said, the ECED have put together a rather neat way of taking you through some common Libre-related scenarios (I guess the same principles apply to other flash / continuous monitoring systems).

A variety of Libre-graphs are put on screen and you have to work through what the best thing to do might be in that situation. It’s reminds me of the driving theory test multiple choice exam – it only lacks the really stupid, but hilarious, options you get in the theory test – “You’re approaching a red traffic light, do you a) come to a gradual halt, b) gently apply the brakes, c) accelerate and drive through the red light at full speed”. I hope this shocking oversight will be fixed in future versions.

I don’t think I’m alone in finding diabetes-management theory a somewhat dry subject, so I applaud (if dogs can applaud) the ECED’s approach to diabetes education – it’s clever, accessible and easy to apply to real life. More of this sort of stuff!

You can have a crack at the quiz yourself here and remember it’s not a competition. Though, that said, I got 68%. Which is great! Woof!
