Shoot Up Poll – when will we get a closed loop?

Da da daaaaaaa! It’s that time of the month again – poll results time. Last month we asked “When do you think the holy grail of a closed-loop insulin pump/BG monitor, that actually works, will be available?”

Soaraway Shoot Up readers are obviously a pessimistic lot with “It doesn’t matter, the NHS will never fund it” coming in at 51% of the vote. Come now gentle readers, Diabetes UK, the JDRF and so on do actually do quite a job of campaigning for us from time to time. So it’s not all that bad. Possibly.

Next up came 2020 with 30% of the vote – proving Alison’s point that a cure is always “about ten years away”. 2025 came next with 11% of the vote, 2015 with 8% and 2012 with no votes whatsoever – yes, that’ll be those pessimists voting (or not) again!

So there we have it.

This month we’re asking “How much medical identification should a diabetic use?” and you can start voting down on the right hand side right now! Thanks to Terry for the poll suggestion.

Those results in full:

When do you think the holy grail of a closed-loop insulin pump/BG monitor, that actually works, will be available?

It doesn’t matter, the NHS will never fund it – 51%
2020 – 30%
2025 – 11%
2015 – 8%
2012 – 0%
