Gill posted some info about herself in her profile which I’ve copied over to the forums as it’ll get noticed more here:

Guess if I had to pick a chronic disease – I would’ve chosen diabetes! There are worse conditions! Novorapid and Lantus. Always had ridiculously high HBA1c readings despite eating very healthily. My excuse is I do quite alot of physical activity which sends me on a roller coaster BG wise. However just beginning carb counting & excited about prospect for better control and maybe abit of weight loss (currently at the generous end of the healthy BMI range) I know the research says this (weight loss) wont be the case – but I’m eating less snacks as cant be bothered to do the maths. On the whole my diabetes has done me a favour. It doesnt stop me doing much and I probably have a healthier lifestyle as a result because i eat well and exercise loads. Run alot – parkrun fan at Bramhall, 5ks and 10ks are my distance, slow but steady! Also love zumba, swimming and cycle alot (my mode of transport) Recently discovered a v good outdoor bootcamp style fitness class (Bioticfit) in my local park. Am huge Strictly fan!

Welcome to ShootUp @gillyd I think I’d agree with you about diabetes being one of the best chronic diseases and @Tim wrote similar things too – http://www.shootuporputup.co.uk/2010/03/diabetes-best-of-all-the-chronic-illnesses/

Good luck with the carb counting, I can’t imagine how I could control my diabetes without it so hopefully it’ll make a difference for you.
