The Shoot Up meet up

By | 7 February, 2011

Just a quick note to thank everyone who turned up to the Shoot Up meet up on Saturday – I think we can safely say that a good time was had by all and a lot of useful chat was also had by all!

We did take some pictures and some videos to put up with this post, but – sadly, perhaps – they turned out very dark, wobbly (for some reason) and completely unusable. But somehow life struggles on.

Speaking of videos, my esteemed co-writer and I have – for your viewing pleasure – recorded a whole load of video blogs on a ;

    I think we could be the Richard and Judy of the diabetes world!

    The husband and I had a marvellous weekend. And it was great to see that Shoot Up is well on the way to world domination with our first successful clone now up and running. When I listened to @caroline evangelising about the pump I felt my work was done, there was no need for me to speak again, my followers are doing it for me 😉

    Hurrah.. Lovely to see you Alison.. Can tell your pump is nearing the end of its warranty having witnessed a failed bungee jump from your hip.

    Do loves @tim‘s smug look at the end though.. 😉

    Heheh, nice, looking forward to more 🙂

    The port definitely does need to be a little more prominent though 😛

    If anyone’s interested, the piano in the background is an 1822 John Broadwood & Sons square piano which Shoot Up bought and had shipped in specially for the filming. It’s since been smashed up and used for firewood.

    @alison glad you like
    @tim I think the fact that you had to mention the piano, probably suggests that we didn’t really care.. Although I was expecting a glas or 2 of your finest malt to make an appearance. 😉

    @mikeinspain – there’s no malt in any of them I’m afraid; there is one featuring a horrible blue liquor (which I found in the back of my cupboard) which both us of us refused to drink!

    And I bet, secretly, you were interested in the piano. 🙂

    Okay, hands up, (sheepishly) – I had to go back to look for the bottles that were being talked about (didnt even notice them), but I spent most of the vlog looking at the piano… (yes, honestly!)

    I kept quiet about the piano out of disappointment at there being no song! Next time, I want a song! 😛

    I’m afraid the strings have been slackened off, so you can’t play it 🙁

    @Annette – the problem with square pianos is that the strings are horizontal and the frame (well, certainly my piano’s frame) isn’t strong enough to support the tension of said strings. They have therefore pulled the piano up on the right hand side and torn the top bit of wood away from the bottom bit of wood. To stop it getting worse the strings have been slackened off.

    It really needs to be properly restored but a) its expensive b) it has a surprisingly small keyboard, so you’re limited to what you can play c) I can only play Chopsticks anyway.

    So you’re giving it a nice comfy retirement whilst using it to put bottles of port on. Okay, I forgive you. 🙂
